There is no magic formula here.

A simple receipt that reads: "On (date), (your name) to pay to (name of the owner) the sum of U.S. $ (rent) with the rental of the property at (address) at (time), then cover and register FIL.

For example: "On June 1, 2007, Marvin and Barbara Smith, John Smith paid $ 500 to lease the property at 1 Main Street, Springfield, MA 12,345 to cover 1-30 June 2007."

If you are a letting ... which is a little different. There are dozens of clauses in it. If you like, "how", are then used on the model, if the time of payment. For example: "To pay for rent a 1 Main Street, Springfield, MA 12345, Marvin and Barbara Smith, John Smith has $ 500 for the first of each month." Invite all to sign.
